An EU framework, not one local rulebook
Directive (EU) 2024/1275 recasts the EU framework for the energy performance of buildings. It sets a direction for improving building performance and reducing emissions, while Member States remain responsible for transposing and applying the rules nationally.
Why professionals should care
Energy performance certificates, renovation information and building data can become more important context when a property is presented. The directive’s concepts do not by themselves tell a broker which document, deadline or obligation applies to a particular building.
Build a cautious workflow
- Record the certificate and issuing context when one is available.
- Keep renovation claims separate from confirmed certificate information.
- Identify the country and relevant national implementation material.
- Refer technical or legal questions to qualified professionals.
